Online versus offline
Participants must understand whether they will complete the session on their own which is typical for remote, unmoderated studies (offline), or if they will interact with someone remotely (online). If online interaction is required, it is important to explain what this interaction consists of.
In remote moderated studies, the participant may be interacting online with a technical person, ahead of the actual session. This person is responsible for helping the participant set up their environment for the study and troubleshooting in case of any issues.
