This is especially pertinent in survey-based studies where no follow up is possible. We have encountered participants that responded to all USERindex questions (positively formulated statements) with "strongly disagree" while at the same time rating the product under testing with five stars and responding to the NPS question (how likely are you to recommend this product…?) with a ten (extremely likely). We have also had responses where participants rated a task as difficult, but who in their elaboration stated that "it was not at all difficult, because....".
What to do then? If possible, the best course of action is to follow up with the participant and validate the responses. In a remote unmoderated ...
