Style
While tone is participant-facing, style refers to the way in which the moderator writes the discussion guide for their own use during the sessions.
There are two styles: a verbatim script, and a more concise list of bullet points.
There is no right or wrong approach to a discussion guide, as long as it helps the moderator to stay on track and cover what needs to be covered. Some moderators prefer a verbatim script, because it ensures that each participant receives an identical treatment. This, in turn, helps to avoid distortion in the results. Some prefer a verbatim script so that they can fall back on it. Others may feel more comfortable with bullet points, since they may find it easier to scan.
