When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Task descriptions
As mentioned previously, studies are an artificial construct. Providing some context can make the tasks more realistic. However, task descriptions are best kept simple, so that the details don't confuse the participant. Consider the following task, for a participant that is asked to search for a winter coat on a retail site:
"Imagine that winter is coming. You have a brown winter coat that you bought two years ago when you went shopping with your sister who flew in from out of town for a few days. But you're not sure that the color of that coat will match the new pants you plan to buy. You think you'd like a blue coat. Using the site, search for blue coats."
