The question here is whether to provide compensation only after a successfully completed session, or to also provide compensation when a participant does not complete the session. Studies that must adhere to certain regulations, such as studies with medical devices, follow compensation rules as dictated by the regulations.
For all other studies, there are no hard compensation rules. Here's where common sense and courtesy (should) prevail.
