Creating a field map
A field map created by either Auto Map Matching Fields or Mapping Assist will have only the basics - a relationship between the source and the target. However, there are other options. Coalesce is one of the most important ones.
A Transform Map takes in data and attempts to apply it to a target table. Every row in the Import Set table may become a new record in the target table. However, this isn't always desirable, especially for repeated or scheduled imports. Instead, you often want the platform to update existing records. Specifying whether the platform will insert or update is the job of the Coalesce flag.
