History
Charles L. Tiffany founded Tiffany & Co. in 1837 when he opened a store at 259 Broadway in downtown Manhattan and earned first-day receipts totaling $4.98. The world-famous New York flagship store, featured in the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s, on the corner of 57th Street and Fifth Avenue, was opened in 1910. Today, Tiffany’s headquarters are located at 727 Fifth Avenue in New York City. The Tiffany legacy began with the legendary 287-carat fancy yellow Tiffany Diamond purchased by Charles Tiffany in 1878, which was then cut by master craftsmen to 128.54 carats.
