History
Founded in 1944 as the War Relief Commission of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) in New York City, World Relief was created to address the humanitarian needs in post-war Europe. Through its efforts, food and clothing were shipped from the United States and distributed through a network of churches in the hardest hit communities in Europe. The War Relief Commission adopted the motto “Food for the body and food for the soul” to guide its efforts.
