2.10 A PROACTIVE APPROACH TO CULTURE AND CHANGE

To bring the sustainable change in the organisation, there is often a conflict between the traditional culture and the demands of a modern management. Two extreme views are taken on the subject, some advocating that management practices should be designed to suit the culture, and others advocating that modern management practices should be uniformly adopted to suit the goals of the organisation (Fig 2.9). A proactive action strategy would involve the following steps.
