As already discussed, for organisational change societal culture is an important context. Organisations exist in society; they are a part of the society and they derive strength from it. In order to be effective, it is necessary that organisations are aware of the major cultural characteristics of the society in which they exist. We shall now discuss how organisations can use this knowledge and whether they should adapt to the culture or try to change it.
