Prototyping exercise

So, you know the differences between paper and digital prototyping. You can start working and getting the experience right now with paper.

In fact, you must start right now.

Before reading on, grab a pen and a piece of paper and try to prototype something. It has to be something doable in under an hour, don't worry about trying something really cool or a real game idea you have. Try to get really practical.

Here are some ideas:

  • A racing game for two players A and B, such as Game of the Goose
  • A simple combat system for a 1v1 card game
  • A puzzle level for a platformer game such as Super Meat Boy
  • A 1v1 strategy game that uses a board and a grid, like Chess

Don’t worry about the results, just try it and see what you come ...
