Running playtesting sessions

We’ll now provide you with a set of guidelines and tips for running your very own playtesting sessions.

At first, the methodology may seem unnecessarily complex and restrictive, but the effort you put into preparing and running your sessions has a direct impact on the quality of the results. Do not fret over your mistakes as a test facilitator. After several sessions, it will all become second nature!

The playtesting scenarios deconstructed below are two of the most commonly encountered permutations. For any other situation, simply pick and choose to find a combination that fits your playtesters, as well as the available equipment, people, and facilities.
